The North Carolina Black Law Enforcement Leadership Inaugural Symposium was in 2021 at the International Civil Rights Museum in Greensboro, at the time former Winston-Salem Chief of Police Catrina Thompson recognized that Black law enforcement professionals led many North Carolina towns, cities, and counties. The symposium brought these exceptional leaders together for fellowship, to share perspectives, to serve, and to honor the legacies of Black law enforcement pioneers, both past and present.
The following year, in 2022, the symposium was held in Greensboro and hosted by Sherif Danny Rodgers of the Guildford County Sheriff's Office at the Greensboro History Museum. It was enhanced by now United States Marshal Glen McNeil Jr., who presented an inspirational keynote speech.
In 2023, the symposium was help in Charlotte and hosted by Sheriff Garry McFadden of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.During the two-day event those who attended the symposium participated in an community service project with Crisis Assistance Ministry to aid those in need in the community.
In keeping with Black History Month, I would like to present to you the visionary for the symposium, U.S. Marshal Catrina Thompson.
